After discovering that Dreamwidth does in fact allow image uploads (Create > Upload Images) I am following through on my threat to finally make an art post.

The following are all done in response to requests made when I posted this Emoji Palette Meme on twitter:

Searching for a reason for Lan Wangji to make a blushy shocked face, I decided that post-resurrection he's good at putting Wei Ying on the back foot, but at one point he overhears Wei Ying making friends with some of the Lan women on the other side of Cloud Recesses and is a little taken aback by just how much detail Wei Ying's going into about their sex lives. First minor attempt to use the Clip Studio Paint perspective tool—you can barely tell, but it's how I drew the wooden boards of the floor.

The request for this one didn't actually specify a character, just 'any mdzs lady,' so I came up with a contrived reason for both Jiang Yanli and Wen Qing to make the kissy winky face. It was also a great chance to test out Clip Studio Paint's comic tools, including panel-making and screentone.

I won't bother hosting the scribblier ones on Dreamwidth properly, but please enjoy the other results of random twitter prompts and posts over the past few months:

And so I obliged! But the context has been changed from 'Data walking into a life painting class to see a nude model' to 'Lan Wangji walking into the Jingshi to see "Mo Xuanyu" attempting to seduce him.'

And finally, I'm in a drinking-oriented discord server with cash and some other folks; we had a prompt night recently where we had twenty minutes per prompt to come up with something, ANYTHING, based on that prompt. Cash did mostly Nielan and I did mostly Wangxian and we had some great fun. The only really presentable result was this one:

I probably won't be doing too much more art for the next week or two as I desperately try to finish my various exchange assignments (made it to the end of chapter 1 for the Merthur fic on Sunday!!!) but when I've reached a satisfactory place with those I'll do a post about all my MDZS Big Bang art.

I think palette memes are a really great way to push myself to grapple with color theory, a subject I still do not feel I really grasp on anything more than a surface level despite having an entire art degree. Even when I apply the palette in an utterly pedestrian way ("the darkest color shall represent black!") I still end up with a result that makes me feel like I can make Cool Things.
